Chartis_Careers_AlexHow did your previous work experience and academic training prepare you for the work you do at Chartis?
While getting my MBA and MPH, I took several courses on health economics, health administration and general management. All of them helped me understand the context in which our clients work and the management challenges they face.

As a Chartis summer associate, I worked on a strategy engagement with a leading Academic Medical Center and put together a health status assessment for the population using multiple data sources. During my Chartis internship, I worked at a large, more operations-based, health system in Chicago. We used internal health system data and external market data to benchmark the performance of one of their troubled hospitals and find opportunities for improvement. The data cleaning and manipulation, the discussions around what story the data were telling us and creating a presentation to communicate the findings were excellent preparation for working here fulltime.

What did you think of the Chartis recruiting process and how did it affect your decision to join?
I never felt as if I was going through the typical case interview process, but rather that I was exploring interesting healthcare problems and solutions in a dynamic conversation with my interviewers. Each person I met at Chartis was warm, genuine, excited to meet me and learn about my background and interests. The day I accepted my full-time offer I got 17 emails from people at the firm welcoming me, most of which came from people I hadn't worked with during my internship. I knew I was joining a truly unique kind of firm.

What keeps you at Chartis?
I couldn't pick a more energetic, brilliant, friendly and supportive group of people to have as teammates and colleagues. Seeing the measurable impact we have on our clients in every project is incredibly rewarding.
